Argo is a budget-friendly hotel in a central spot in Thessaloniki, right on Egnatia Street and just a few steps from Dimokratias metro station and its namesake square. Its main strength is the location: the port and the railway station are around 300 metres away, while bars, restaurants and cafés line the surrounding blocks.
It is a practical, no-frills choice for travellers on holiday or business who want to get around on foot or by public transport. The rooms are simple and functional, with a telephone, fan and balcony; some feature air conditioning and a private bathroom with shower, and there are room types for one, two or three guests.
Argo has a 24-hour reception with free Wi-Fi throughout, luggage storage and daily housekeeping. The bus to Thessaloniki Airport stops just a few metres away. Payment at the property is accepted in cash only.

Argo offers three room types designed for different needs: a single room with a shared bathroom, ideal for the solo traveller after an affordable option; a twin/double for couples; and a roomier triple for small groups or families. These are simple, tidy spaces geared towards resting after a day out in the city.
All rooms share the same essentials: a balcony, free Wi-Fi, telephone, flat-screen TV, fan, heating, fridge, wardrobe and bed linen. The differences lie mainly in capacity and bathroom: the single uses a shared bathroom, while the double and triple have a private bathroom with shower. The single and the triple are air-conditioned, a handy feature during the warm summer months.

Argo brings together the essentials for a comfortable, no-surprises stay in central Thessaloniki. The reception is open around the clock, with daily housekeeping, a wake-up service and luggage storage, while free Wi-Fi covers every corner of the property.
The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, telephone, air conditioning or a fan, heating, fridge, wardrobe and bed linen, and several have a private bathroom with shower and a balcony. It is worth noting that the hotel does not have parking and that the upper floors are accessible by stairs only. With this set of comforts, Argo is aimed at travellers looking for a functional, well-connected base from which to explore Thessaloniki on foot.
Argo sits on Egnatia Street, the central historical axis of Thessaloniki, in the western part of the city centre. It is a busy, well-connected area: Dimokratias metro station is about 250 metres away, while the main railway station and the port are just 300 metres away. With the new Metro Line 1, which opened in late 2024, getting around the city is fast and easy without a car.
On foot you can comfortably reach the heart of the city. Aristotelous Square, with its distinctive architecture and views over the Thermaic Gulf, is about 800 metres away, while the Roman Forum and the Byzantine Church of the Holy Apostles — a UNESCO World Heritage monument — are within easy reach. The White Tower, the city's landmark, is around 1.7 km away along the waterfront.
The best time to visit Thessaloniki is spring and autumn, with mild weather and pleasant walks along the seafront; summer can be hot and humid. The area right around the station is more commercial and less scenic, so it's worth heading towards Aristotelous and the Upper Town for a more atmospheric experience. One more plus: Thessaloniki Airport is about 12 km away, roughly 16 minutes by car, and the airport bus stops just a few metres from the hotel.
